Project Landscape - Summary

Project Description: Project Landscape is a project to develop a 3D commercial standard videogame for the Playstation 2 Linux format. This project is NOT open-source and is only developed by authorised contributors. The only reason this project is not open for development by public contributors is to keep project management simple. Project Landscape will not use any non-PS2L specific 3D APIs such as OpenGL. This project is for PS2L and as such should run independently of a window manager and X-Windows. The Project Landscape page also hosts several other projects including Bang for Quake2 and PS2LQuake.

My first SPS2 demos!
 Project Landscape - djspringate - 2004-Jan-10 21:17
I have uploaded to the files section my first SPS2 demos - rotTri and SPS2-Pong.

If you are new to SPS2 programming and want to check them out, please do, the source is, of course, open source.

Thanks to Steven Craft, Sparky and Sauce.

It appears that some people are having problems with PS2LQuake and in response I have opened a public forum to help people who are having problems with it.

Please post there if you need help, I monitor the forum and will help people as soon and as much as I can.

Thanks for using PS2LQuake everyone!

Installing PS2LQuake
 Project Landscape - djspringate - 2003-Mar-30 22:31
I do realise that this is poorly documented so here are the instructions on how to perform a recommended install for PS2LQuake:

To configure PS2LQuake simply run the following at the root of your source tree:

./config-ps2

To build PS2LQuake execute:

make

Then finally, as root, run the following command to install PS2LQuake:

make install

PS2LQuake - 0.0.1
 Project Landscape - djspringate - 2003-Mar-25 21:20
I have released my PS2LQuake ver 0.0.1

This is a streamlined and optimised Quake for Playstation 2 Linux and currently works very well with the software renderer (X11 and SDL) but the GL mode is still in development.

I understand that PS2LQuake is built almost entirely on the sources of Quakeforge and I do not wish to take away any credit from them, so hats off to all those clever people at Quakeforge.

I have released PS2LQuake as a seperate package so that it can be updated and optimised specifically with the PS2L setup in mind. The control pad (Dual Shock 2) works well with Quake and GL mode is still a possibility.

This project will continue with the idea of adding some generic mods such as Rocket Arena, QWRequiem, some bots etc. and packaging it all in one archive.

I hope all the new people wondering what to do with the PS2L kits can appreciate this, its easy to setup and can also run as a dedicated Quake server on your network.

Bang for Quake 2
 Project Landscape - djspringate - 2003-Feb-18 09:24
I have added the source for Bang, a Quake 2 Grenade mod, which I 'ported' to Playstation 2L.
I say 'ported' as I didn't have to do much and don't want to take credit away from the mod's author, r1ch.
A great mod that runs great on my dedicated Q2 server on my PS2. I recommend it. Oh, this is totally unrelated to Project Landscape in everyway. :)

Project Landscape has launched!
 Project Landscape - djspringate - 2003-Jan-28 19:02
Today Project Landscape's website is open. Thanks to SCE for approving my project and thanks to dunch for noticing it was open before I did. I suppose I'd better get cracking on the demos..

Expect something soon..? Maybe. ;)
