SUBJECT: Can Linux be used as a Platform of 'C' Progra

Forgive my ignorance (and poor spelling),
but I am considering the purchase of a PS2 +
the Linux Kit to restart a 'C' Programming hobbie
that stalled some 9 years ago.

Is Linux a freeware version of Unix and does it
come with , or can I purchase, a 'C' complier for
it.
