SUBJECT: samba pains

Alright im just posting this for those that have headaches like me ....
Im connecting to the ps2 from an xp machine at uni and was having serious password issues
samba was working fine and i could connect to it from linux and it was even appearing in my Network Neighbourhood but i couldnt get the passwords to synchronise
Im not sure whether it has something to do with the way the XP machine has been configured ( i dont have acces to any of the settings) but the passwords just refused to match
so if your having the same issue and running on a private network easiest thing to do is just use the set no password option (smbpasswd -n username)
Hope this helps someone else
