SUBJECT: xmit problem with Ethernet/modem adapter

I recently exchanged my Linux kit ethernet adapter for the ethernet/modem adapter. I was having problems with /lib/libc.so.6 at boot, so I followed the instructrions that Sarah posted and sent in my ethernet adapter. They sent back an ethernet/modem adapter.

Now I am having boot problems with this new adapter. When canna is started at boot time, it spits out repeating messages saying:
eth0: xmit: link not valid

I know for a fact that my ethernet line is working. I am in a LAN environment with a dedicated IP address. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong?
