Summary:What's going on? Mozilla status for June 9th, 2004

Hi everyone,

Well, we've got two new builds, Thunderbird 0.6 and Mozilla 1.8a1, but there's a problem with the spelling module that will crash the applications. Therefore, it's recommended that, if you need stability, you use Thunderbird 0.5, Mozilla 1.6 or if you're willing to risk a little, Mozilla 1.7rc1. I have posted another request for assistance on Mozilla's newsgroups - I'm just waiting for a response.

Speaking of Mozilla 1.7rc1, mozilla.org has actually released Mozilla 1.7rc3, but it takes so long to do builds that I've decided to wait until Mozilla 1.7 is officially released before the next build. I think the differences are minor between 1.7rc1, 1.7rc2 and 1.7rc3 as far as PlayStation 2 Linux is concerned. Let me know if either 1.7rc2 or 1.7rc3 is needed - I can build on demand if necessary.

Finally, Firefox 0.9rc has been released, but no source code nor CVS release tag seems to be available, so I can't build it. When I find some source for Firefox 0.9, I will build it. Since it doesn't use the spelling module, that bug shouldn't affect it.

So - we're waiting. There are a couple of things to play with - but I'm hoping that I can replace them with fully functional versions in the next couple of weeks.

Cheers,
Paul
