ecare/itv prototype for senior citizens - Summary

Summary |  Forums |  Docs |  Files |

This software is a prototype of a server-client system for senior citizens. It consists of a shopping-system, a message-system, a health-system, an emergency-system and two games. The software was created as the practical part of my diploma thesis. It is stable, however it is very insecure and slow, because the purpose of this prototype was to do usability-tests.

  • The serverside needs to be a LAMP-system.
  • The clientside needs to be a PS2 Unit with a network-adapter and the PS2Linux RTE disc1 (Simline should work too, because no HDD is needed)

There is also a RTE-bootable memcard-image of the clientside available (bootable_memcard.tgz on the files-page). The server-connection on this memory-card is hardcoded to our server (in Austria), so there is no need to set up the serverside if you just want to try it out. For security-reasons the database on our server has been set to read-only. Link to the admin-webinterface:

The two games can be accessed without a network-connection.

The system uses sps2 to display its content. The transformstack-based 3D interface I implemented is probably the most interesting part of the project, because describing 3D-scenes with it is almost as simple as with openGL.

This prototype is no longer developed. Now the main purpose of this project is to let you GPL-borrow parts of it.
