Summary:Pre-orders now available in North America

Pre-orders for the Linux (for Playstation 2) kit Are now being taken on the playstation.com website at http://www.us.playstation.com/product_detail/product_detail.jhtml?PRODID=337933&CATID=490&refUrl=linux. As stated in the FAQ the cost will be $199, and we now have an expected ship date of 5/22/02. Due to the distant nature of the date, it is subject to change. Orders for the kit will only be taken for North American territories at this time. Orders for European territories will be available at a future date.

I'm so excited! Shakn' in my chair, unable to type properly, but wondering a few things. Is the purchase of this thing only available online? Will places like SonyStore or EB carry it? Another question is its' warranty. Hardware wise, is there the option to upgrade the warranty from the standard 30/90 mfr 'protection from defects'? Something like SonyCare, or if through somewhere like EB, their own extended warranty? Wow! A bonified 'expected' ship date of 5/22/02! I'm gonna be talking everyone I know ears off for the rest of today, tomorrow, and the day after that, and after that...
