That being said, I'm using MozillaFirebird under XWindows with Kernel 2.4.17 on my PlayStation 2 to type this message right now.
You have to do two things. First, as root, you have to do this:
mkdir /dev/input
mknod /dev/input/mice c 13 63
Second - you have to edit your /etc/X11/XGSConfig:
comment out:
# Device "/dev/mouse"
and add this:
Device "/dev/input/mice"
That's it. You should be able to use XWindows - assuming you've built the kernel correctly.
Building the kernel - aye - that's a tale!
If there's interest, I would be happy to explain how I built a pretty stable kernel. I'd even be willing to upload my images for people to play around with.
